ROBIN TURNER (she/her)
School Mental Health Counselor
Ms. Robin is a Las Vegas native with over 15 years experience working as a Mental Health Professional. Her past work experience has been working with the Department of Family Services, and Juvenile Justice Services. She has experience facilitating parenting workshops, providing individual counseling sessions and group counseling sessions. Her first year working with an elementary school in CCSD providing individual and group counseling sessions for youth and families was in the 2021-2022 school year.
She also carries a Bachelors in Business Administration, and a Master in Marriage, Family and Child Therapy. She is currently a Licensed Marriage and Family State Intern (LMFT-Intern), and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
Ms. Robin always had a heart for supporting youth and ensuring they have the social, and emotional skills to work through life's challenges, her mission is to teach them to use their voice to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and emotions to enhance their self-esteem and prepare them for their future. She hopes to see our students confident in who they are, motivated about who they are becoming, and encouraged that they can really be and do anything they set their minds to be and do!
Outside of school she loves dancing, and hanging with friends. She also provides healing and support coaching with youth and adults who have experienced childhood trauma, and volunteers with organizations that provide mentoring services to youth in the community.

Originating from Madrid, Spain, Mr. Barela's diverse background enriches his approach to education.

Beyond education, she enjoys travel, sports, community service, and quality time with loved ones. Originally from Oklahoma City, Mrs. Powell is committed to fostering transformational relationships within our BBA community, ensuring that every student feels valued, heard, and supported.
Her passion for teaching is rooted in her passion for life! It is a joy to be a part of helping students learn, grow and thrive. She is excited to be a part of the BBA team and is looking forward to a fantastic school year.

Outside of her role, Ms. Aliy finds joy in outdoor adventures with her dog Daisy, exploring new hobbies, and embracing the world of literature.

With experience as a Registered Behavior Technician, Guest Teacher, and Social Recreation Director, Angela excels in building positive relationships with students to support their social and educational goals. Beyond the classroom, she enjoys camping and hiking. This school year, Angela is committed to fostering connections within the BBA community, aiming to build strong relationships with students, families, and fellow staff members.

Sam Sandoval (they/them)
Sam Sandoval, SPED Teaching Assistant, holds a Bachelor's in Philosophy from UNLV (2021) and a Master's from the University of Washington, Seattle (2023). With a genuine love for children, Sam is committed to the academic and social/emotional development of their students, drawing from their experience as a neurodivergent individual belonging to multiple marginalized groups. Born in Chicago but calling Las Vegas home since age 3, Sam is deeply connected to the community. Beyond the classroom, they enjoy quality time with their partner and cats, watching movies, exploring good food, and expressing creativity through drawing and painting. Sam brings a rich background, including teaching Philosophy for Children classes and serving as a substitute teacher and teaching assistant for K-12 and college students.
