Q: What is a charter school?

A: A charter school is an independently run public school that is granted greater flexibility in its operations in return for greater accountability for performance. Charter schools were established to give parents academic choices for their children and provide a learning environment to improve student achievement.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Nothing! Battle Born Academy is free to attend. There are also no fees to apply. We believe that high-quality education is a right that all children deserve.

Q: Who is eligible to enroll at BBA?

A: Enrollment is currently open to students entering Kindergarten through 7th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. Children are eligible for Kindergarten if they are five years of age on/before the first day of school. Space is limited. 

Q: Do students wear uniforms?

A: Yes. BBA has a "school spirit" uniform. This means students must wear a Battle Born Academy shirt but may wear bottoms and shoes of their choosing, with appropriate imagery or content. To offset the cost of uniforms, each student receives a BBA polo and a BBA t-shirt annually. Families may purchase additional uniform tops from Campus Club Uniforms. 

Q: When does school start this year?

A: The first day of school is August 10, 2023 or August 14, 2023 - determined by grade level. Please see the full calendar with all holidays and breaks by visiting the 23-24 calendar page. 

The 24-25 calendar will be available soon. We anticipate school starting around August 12, with more details to come.

Q: What is the schedule at BBA?

A: Battle Born Academy opens its doors at 8:30am Monday through Friday. Students can eat breakfast by arriving early from 8:10-8:30. Dismissal for all students is at 3:30pm. Before and after school care is available. Before school begins at 6:00 a.m. After school concludes at 6:00 p.m. Families wishing to utilize before/after school and/or extended care for school breaks can sign up for additional care. 

Q: What supplies does my student need?

A: Battle Born Academy will provide all school supplies for use at school and will issue a computer to all students. If able to, please instead choose to purchase a backpack for your student and if possible donate high-demand supplies including Kleenex, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and Expo (Dry Erase) markers. Purchase of durable personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, shields) is recommended at this time given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Q: Where iS Battle Born Academy located?

A: BBA is located at a beautiful, newly renovated facility at 2101 E. Owens Ave. 89030. This is our forever home and has recently been remodeled into a beautiful school space, including a playground, basketball court, theater, library, and beautiful new classrooms.
